Pank and I worked on a Corbin In The Dell project for most of the weekend. Let me start off by saying, I love that man! I am very lucky to be married to such a supportive husband. Throughout our weekend project, Julia Child kept coming to mind. I never knew what a big influence she has had in my life. I really never thought about it much. It’s not like I have a bunch of her cookbooks lying around. I have never made aspic from scratch. I certainly have never written a cookbook. (That last one may not be true for very long.) I do however; remember watching Julia on PBS growing up. Mamma and I would watch Julia deconstruct a whole bird or maybe cook up beef bourguignon every Saturday morning, especially when the weather was too yucky outside. Julia tackled such daunting dishes with the greatest of ease. She was not pompous or arrogant; in fact, she was quite humble in my opinion. Her approach was simply a matter of a fact. Pank said I reminded him of a Southern Julia Child. Did I tell you how crazy I am about Pank?!?
At any rate, it got me to thinking. Who inspires me? I love reading cookbooks for inspiration. Mamma and Daddy have always served as a source of inspiration. Pank goes without saying. Mona (Pank’s Mom) can always give me a spark. I am lucky to be surrounded by friends that seem like family. Some of them are even mentor figures to me. When it gets right down to it, I find inspiration in almost everything!
Here I sit on the back porch with my steaming cup of coffee, listening to the birds sing through the dappled sunlight of a brisk morning. I have a bushel of apples ready to prepare for canning and hard cider to make. There is garlic, strawberries and asparagus to set. I MUST separate those iris and daffodils this week! I am working on a few marketing strategies for some great new brands. It is the first full day of autumn. Fall is by far, my favorite time of year. I am truly inspired!

I hope I inspire!
