Pank and I go to the tasting room at Corsair Artisan Distillery from time to time. They have a great $7 cocktail list showcasing all of their handcrafted spirits. My two favorites are the Corsair Gin and Vanilla Bean Vodka. The Corsair Gin is clean and crisp with a fresh botanical note sans conifer. The Vanilla Bean Vodka is one that you could sip on by itself, without a doubt. I can’t imagine why anyone would want that commercial, fake- flavored bleh, once they try vodka that has been crafted with fair trade whole beans! In their taproom, Emily always has a fine local/regional beer selection. Last time I was in there, she offered three of Nashville’s finest: Jackalope, Yazoo and Fat Bottom. Weather permitting the courtyard betwixt the two rooms is the place to be. The day of this picture, we had just had a summer storm and the sun was peeping through the clouds. The moss on the bricks and trees was a vibrant green. A bird nest full of babies was built in one of the corners of the building. You could even hear the train whizzing by just on the other side of the building. In my book, a train whistle is a fun thing to hear as you sip on a vanilla bean orange crush, giggling with your Pank and surrounded by all that history! The space was magical that afternoon. www.corsairartisan.com
Marathon Village was an auto manufacturer during the turn of the 20th Century. The Village is chock full of interest.I am falling in love with the history of this place and am thrilled to see the new breath of life that resides at 1305 Clinton Street. You can find artisans from all walks of life here. Heck, you might even run into a celebrity or two. www.marathonvillage.com
