Last week I attended my very first Tennessee Association of Farmers Markets meeting. I was tickled to be surrounded by so many folks supporting Tennessee growers. All parts of the state were represented from Dyersburg to Dandridge, Tri-Cities to Chattanooga and everywhere in between. Great Granddaddy Suiter found himself raising four little children all by himself when his first wife died. This would be no easy feat nowadays. I can’t imagine the agony he must have gone through. One spring morning in 1967, MamMaw loved on her sweet baby granddaughter, Betsy (my sister). Mamma and Daddy had just built their very own house. The Guard Donkey
My friend Sarah and I made a trip to KLD Farm this past January. Kenneth and Lucy Drinnon own and operate an 82+ acre farm in Petway, TN where they raise Angus cattle. Their beef has made many fine meals for the Panks! We had the best time getting to know one another. “Comfort and Consistency” is the way Kay West described the cooking style of the late Walter Johnson "Jay" Luther Jr, in a June 2012 Nashville Scene article. She was right!
