I am so tickled to have received 1st place for my HO’Chetta and 2nd place for my OOM-PAH bruschettas at this year’s Tomato Art Festival recipe contest. In its 10th year, I was amongst a group of very talented chefs competing for the title. With two chances, all 25 of us lined up at Margot’s door promptly at 1:45pm for the judges to take their seats. Pank was such a sweetie. He drove me as close as he could to get my entries in on time. He parked all the way at 15th and Ordway and hoofed up ... continue reading...
I Can’t Shut Up!
Nick and Ruby Gamboa came to visit us this weekend from Houston. I have looked forward to their arrival all summer. I remember vividly sitting in my garden wandering if the cucumber plants would still be producing when they arrived. Would the sunflowers be blooming or would the peppers be in full force? The Gamboas were originally friends of Pank's . He spoke so fondly of them, that we became Facebook friends. Until this weekend, we only knew each other virtually. When they walked through ... continue reading...

We take solace in our little piece of Inglewood heaven. Friday night, we had so much fun with our neighbors and new friends, Grant and Kathryn. Kathryn shares ... continue reading...

If we don’t pick daily produce, the plants think it is time to stop producing and they start to wither. Whether we want them or not, we have cucumbers most meals these days. I have made salads, cocktails and this weekend was picklepalooza. Sunday we ate our first tomato of the season. There is nothing quite like a ... continue reading...
